Sabrina- A Little Princess

It was a very nice evening for "trick or treating". The weather was mild. A lot of children with beautiful costumes. Suzanne and Martin went out with the children with their friends down the street.I stayed home costumed as a pumpkin and gave out the treats. We closed the door after approx. 115 treats were passed out. The highlight of the evening was a visit to the Haunted House close by.

A beautiful evening enjoyed by all.. ..

I made a natural cat repellent with citrus fruit and used this as a deterrent.

I cut up orange peelings and spread them on the flower beds.

Lets hope this works !!!

Japanese Angelica Tree

A  deciduous tree with some of the most beautiful foliage you can imagine.
That is Japanese angelica tree, or Aralia elata.
The foliage will enrich any garden and bring a quality of prehistoric lushness to it, with spiny branches  and yet Japanese angelica tree is hardy to Canada.

Gastronomy:

In Japan, the shoots (taranome) are eaten in the spring. They are picked from the end of the branches and are fried in a tempura batter.
In Korean cuisine, its shoots called dureup are used for various dishes, by pan-frying the shoots covered with minced beef and batter.[2]

a beautiful tree....

the white flowers turn to seeds in the fall

The little white flowers that appear on the tree in the fall change to these seeds.
little trees appear in the grass in the spring.

The tree in November has lost its leaves and the flowers are hanging on making it look spooky...
All photos I took in Longueuil.
The homeowner of this beautiful tree in all the pic above, has given me some small trees that I have growing on my property in Gaspe.

Lavender

Lavender is a perennial fragrant plant that can be dried for potpourri and many other uses as well.

Suzanne, my daughter  has lavender growing in the back yard.

We cut it and hung it up to dry to make some sachet bags.

Japanese Maple Tree

Japanese maples are especially prized for the diversity of size, shape and colour of foliage. Foliage colour changes with the season, and many are especially spectacular in the autumn. Japanese Maples will grow well in any soil type, and  colours will be darker in higher light conditions and grows best if protected from windy conditions.

Halloween Crafts

Halloween Haunted Houses,    Sabrina and Mathieu each decorated one....
This is a simple craft for young children. I cut out the house using craft foam paper. Glued yellow paper behind to give a window effect (hung in a window to have light through it,)  and the kids decorated it with stickers, acorn tops  and ornaments
