Carmen's Garden ~ Spring 2019

Sharing some beauty in these terrible times.
Looking through my photo from last Spring,
I realize I forgot to share these
photos of my friend Carmen's Garden.

 Carmen is 97 yrs. young.
She tends to her home and
 garden by herself.
An amazing Lady.

Oxalis or Shamrock Plant.

A row in pots

She removes the small bulbs (100 or more) each
Fall and replants them in the Spring.

Centaurea , a perennial plant.

Carmen's favourite plants are succulents.
which grow in dry soil and low to the ground.

Carmen is a inspiration.
Her passion for gardening,

  2. Oh my goodness, what a beautiful and inspiring garden Carmen tends. I cannot believe she is 97 years of age! It must be a dream to walk along the paths and gaze upon all the pretty flowers and sweet garden ornaments that abound. Those irises are beautiful, but then each flower is beautiful. Thank you for allowing us to wander along the garden beds and drink in all the beauty.

  4. Thelma, thanks for this wonderful, inspiring post. What a wonderful garden Carmen has. She is indeed a wonderful inspiration to those of us getting up in years who love gardening and hope to be able to keep doing it for a long time.

  5. Carmen rocks! Is that a super sized shamrock? I've never seen one so big. She's doing more in her garden at 97 than I do in mine all years collectively. It's fabulous.

  6. What a gorgeous garden, we have nothing anywhere near blooming yet, but I walk by the teensy bits of green in the ground and envision a garden sometime like this! Thanks for sharing!!!!

  7. Thank you Thelma for showing us Carmen and her amazing garden . What a powerhouse this lady gardener is !
    I think the un-identified ? plant is a wood anemone nemorsa ..
What an amazing garden she has .. so many beautiful plants .. every inch of her garden is set to purpose .. I think her longevity is her love of nature and her own nurturing instinct to care for her garden .. it gives back a special source of power within herself .. She is a deeply happy person which is rare these days.
I hope she keeps us on our own toes to follow her example ;-)
