Montreal's Ile de France Restaurant - Eatons 9th Floor Restaurant

This week I had brunch at
 Eaton's 9th floor restaurant.
It has reopened after being
 closed for nearly 24yrs.,
with the closure of
Eatons Department Store.

I remember the restaurant from
the 1960's to 80s inclusive.
It was a bustling place with
shoppers and employers.

My sister Betty worked at Eaton's in the linen
department and also my Mother-In-Law
 in the electronic department
 (toasters, radios, razors, etc.)

The restaurant was originally
 designed in art-deco style,
to resemble the Ile-de-France
 luxury ocean liner.

It reopened this year,
 renovated to modern standards,
leaving a lot of the original deco-style.

When the restaurant opened in 1931
it could seat 500 people.

Delicious food

The hallways stay as they were in bygone years.

Also the bathroom with its marble walls, etc.

Fantastic food and friendly service.

Brought back memories of eating
on the 9th floor at Eatons.

Thanks for your visit.

  1. That floor is spectacular. The restaurant looks lovely and so does your food! I loved hearing a bit of the history, too.
