September,
Summer flowers are fading
Autumn has started to show it's colours.
Birds are migrating South.
I had the visit of a Monarch Butterfly
this week. I've never seen one here
in this region of Eastern Quebec.
We are the 20th of September.
They usually start their voyage to Mexico
around the first of September.
Maybe this one got off course and
came to visit us.
However it was a delight to see him.
I'n hoping his journey went well.
He was eating on the Tamarisk plant.
Sadly the Monarch butterfly population
has decreased 90% since 1990's.
due of climate change, pesticides etc.
An endangered species.
most of the Summer.
We need rain.
water barrels to water flowers.
I am on a drilled well
so we have to limit our use.
Geraniums
Red Geranium
Salmon Pink Geraniums
And Dark Pink

The secret garden.
Hydrangea
I've had this plant for 10 yrs
and it's the first year it gives
more than 2 flowers.
A volunteer Marigold plant
grew in the gravel.
(A new term I learned this year.
A volunteer plant is a plant
that grows on its own rather
than being deliberately planted.)
An ash tree had to be cut down,
we saved 2 stumps for seats.
I planted 3 colours.
They will survive inside for the Winter.
I will take cuttings and root pieces.
In front of the Coleus,
another Volunteer plant. Iceland Poppies
They flower continuously all Summer.
My favourite
I planted some tomatoes and cucumbers.
Because of the drought the
plants didn't produce a lot.
A
Only 4 tomotoes on this plant.

The large dining room
Cucumbers plants were not prolific either.
We celebrated my sister Annie's
81 birthday in August.
We had afternoon tea at the
Hamilton Manor in New Carlisle.

built in 1852 and has been converted
