A Scottish Tea

Robbie Burns Day,
January 25th.
is celebrated worldwide.... to honour
 the national poet of Scotland.

I am having a tea with friends
and decided to decorated in Scottish plaid.

I baked Scottish Shortbread Cookies.
For the basic shortbread recipe, click here.

The two tier serving dish is
Solian ware ~ Simpsons Ltd.

Scottish tartan/plaid  make up the Scottish kilts,
the symbolic national dress of Scotland.
Specifically tartans are attributed to clans or families.
The Crawford Clan is in my ancestry with my Mom's family.

Above a page from the book "Tartans" by Brenda Ralph Lewis.

Thistles are embroided in the tablecloth edging.

The "THISTLE" is the national flower of Scotland

My pics are dark.
We lack sunshine lately.

I am grateful to friends and family for
lending me some items for this blog.
 Elsie for the plaid tablecloth.
Muriel for the beautiful thistle edged tablecloth.
Sister Carol for her cups and saucers, nutcrackers,
 and tartan book.

And thanks for your visit. xo
