Life In Lockdown ~ Part 2.

We are in lockdown with a curfew.
It has brought down the
number of covid cases in our
province, in the last few weeks,
which is a good thing, although,
we still have a long way to go.

We're allowed to go out for walks,
to get fresh air, and get out of the house.
We must stay in our district, in our bubble,
wear masks in public and keep our distance
from people.

I am sharing some more photos of
the great outdoors in Winter in our
province of Quebec.

Yesterday, it was -12 C.
My flowered mask provides
hope, warmth, protection and prevention.

We take a walk in the woods nearly each day.

The forest gives us a lot to admire,
and is different and beautiful in all Seasons.

Tall, Tall, Trees

The deciduous trees
lose their leaves in Winter.

Sisters Carol and Annie

Some leaves don't want to leave.

Today it has warmed up
to -5 C.
I was a beautiful day for a walk.
  Carol and I.

The weight of the snow bends the branches.

We had a foot of snow last weekend.

It made it all more beautiful

We wear cleats/crampons on our boots
 to avoid slipping and falling.
We are seniors and want to avoid
breaking any bones.
They are lightweight.

I made a collage of tree trunks
with different patterns and textures.

The first one is Yellow Birch
The next 2, I'm not sure.
They could be a type of Maple.
Maple syrup is produced in this region.
Oak and ash trees are growing here also.

There's a few fallen trees from high winds.

The trunk is cut up for firewood.
Most times the base/roots of the
tree will fall back in it's place,
 in the ground.

I also spotted Princess Pine
or Clubmoss.
A cute bush that grows in patches,
only 4 -6 inches high.
An ancient plant that existed before dinosaurs.
It has been over-harvested in the past,
making it a protected species, in some
parts of the U.S.

In case you've missed it,

for my previous blog.

Congratulations to all my American friends
and all American citizens, on the inauguration of
their new president, Joe Biden.

And oh yes, we love Bernie and his mittens.
We'd love to have him join us on our walks.

Thanks for your visit xo

  4. I think long after we don't need masks for Covid anymore (will that ever happen?!) I will keep using them when I go out in the winter! My face has never been more comfortable in the winter!

  5. Hi Jeanie. That's so true, the masks keep us warm in Winter.

  6. Ciao Thelma.
    Le immagini sono un incanto.

  7. LOL, Bernie and his mittens...we can't tell if he is smiling or scowling...LOL. Your photos are gorgeous and lovely snow. We are waiting for our biggest snow coming on Monday, apparently We have only had enough to keep the ground white and refreshed. Enjoy, and love your walks! Sandi

  8. Wow...quanta neve e che freddo! Ciao Thelma.

  9. Hi Thelma. What a calming and beautiful environment you have to walk in. We had our first snow over night but I have only seen it from my window. I do have to say I think it is wonderful that you have locked down and that the cases are falling. Most of us over here are too grand to shut down, I guess. There are constant fights and protests about keeping everything open, and truthfully, the cases keep going up. Some cannot add that 1+1=2. Thank you for your kind wishes for our new president. He has a job in front of him for sure..Stay well and keep walking in that beautiful snow..xxoJudy

  10. Wow, I cannot think of a more glorious place in which to be in lockdown, Thelma. Oh my goodness, your wintry wonderland is magical. How fabulous to walk in such beauty with all that glorious-ness enveloping you. Love your flowery mask. Love too, Bernie's mittens. I got up at 2am just to watch the inauguration. It was fabulous.

  11. How beautiful your woods are in the sunshine. I wonder now if I could stand the cold Canadian temperatures in the winter. I used to love visiting Canada in winter but even then I used to get earache from the cold. But I guess you must be well used to it. I'm very envious of the cleats that fit over the boots. That's really what we could do with around here even though they wouldn't get used all that much. It's very difficult when it does freeze since the streets aren't always well gritted.

  12. What a beautiful winter walk:-)) We also have a nice winter this year with a lot of snow to enjoy:-))
